L.L. Bean is currently recruiting for a Lead SQL Server DBA to join the Enterprise Applications team based in Freeport, ME. This is a highly skilled technical role with ultimate responsibility for designing and maintaining physical data base structures supporting a shareable base of corporate information and ensuring that corporate data is effectively implemented and managed. This Lead DBA role provides technical leadership for large and/or complex business efforts. Acts as system and data integrator. Work closely with the Information Architect to define and design strategies for better data management infrastructure and processes.
Responsibilities
Create, develop and review physical database models from logical models of small to large size databases and complex systems; provide guidance and ensure designs comply with standards guidelines and procedures; research and analyze the impact of proposed changes and additions to the installed bases of data and fit in with future requirements.
Provide consulting support to Application Development teams Data Warehouse staff as well as DBA's on complex integrated systems including distributed solutions
Provide technical leadership for large and/or complex business efforts
Set DBMS environment standards
Maintain and disseminate knowledge of DBMS software capabilities
Provide consulting support on database performance issues; resolve problems in code or database design determine or implement solutions
Design backup/recovery environment and procedures for dbms environment
Reorganize database structures as needed
Support implementation of new releases of DBMS software; plan and implement new features where appropriate
Provides shareable database solutions for complex business applications
Mentors less experienced DBA's and application developers
Represent database administration and collaborate with the Information Architect and other architects in the department to develop data management infrastructure recommendations.
One week of 24x7 primary on-call as first call for all DBMS systems as part of a 7 person rotation is required. One week of secondary on-call is also required as part of the rotation. DBA for primary on-call is expected to fix issues in their DBMS expertise and broker the call for other DBMSs to another DBA.

Qualifications
8-10 years experience in database administration discipline
Advanced broad knowledge of L.L. Bean DBMS software & infrastructure
Advanced knowledge of data/database administration concepts and trends
Familiarity with DBMS architecture; ability to provide consultation to database architects
Advanced skill in SQL Server database administration; in addition Oracle database administration skills preferred
Advanced backup and recovery knowledge and skills; CommVault software experience preferred
Advanced skills in Always On SQL Server technology
Advanced Windows Operating System
Advanced use of DBA tools
Experienced in large complex database design
Extensive experience in logical and physical database design data modeling techniques
Advanced SQL skills including use and optimization techniques
High level knowledge of key business drivers measures processes and challenges
Ability to think more broadly about data management and information architectural concepts and principles.
Strong collaboration skills and ability to promote ideas and advocate for change.
Education: 4 Year Bachelors Degree
Experience: 7+ Years

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
