Medical Billing Clerk

Be Well My Friend has an immediate opening for a part-time (up to 20 hours per week) medical billing clerk. BWMF is a fast growing integrative health center, with offices in Freeport and Augusta. Potential for growth into a full-time position.
The billing clerk is responsible for assisting the Medical Billing Specialist in the timely posting of all governmental, commercial insurance and patient payments, adjustments and denials to applicable patient accounts using AdvancedMD patient management system. Performs follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable due from government, non-government payers, and self-pay patients. Follows up on payer denials to include analysis of appropriate payment and claim adjudication. Identifies root causes of outstanding receivables and assists with resolution of those receivables.
Qualifications/Requirements:
o Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred.
o Associate's degree preferred.
o Minimum 1 year family practice medical billing, denials management, coding and accounts receivable experience.
o Knowledge of revenue cycle work flows, processes, computer system and health care including physician and facility billing practices.
o Demonstrates immediate level of knowledge and skill in billing of all payers (government, managed care and commercial billing).
o Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
o Effective communication skills including written, verbal and listening skills.
o Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
o Proficiency in a suite of Microsoft Office applications.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
o Strong knowledge of medical terminology for primary care, with the ability to apply this knowledge to the coding process.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
