L.L.Bean is looking for a Technical Designer bringing experience with men's woven bottoms. The successful candidate will be responsible for products from development through the commercialization process maintaining corporate fit standards. Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and adhere to corporate timelines is a must.
Position Purpose:
Under minimal supervision works with department leadership to set and align product lines to commercialized standards. Responsibilities include measuring samples, evaluating samples for quality construction and ensuring consistency within specification guidelines. Takes lead role in planning and preparing samples for fit sessions. Assists in fit sessions. Creates product specifications that are accurate and approved within corporate timeline.
Job Tasks:
1. Conducts analysis of specifications to identify inconsistencies ensuring garments are manufactured according to the standards of quality, fit, and construction.
Creates initial and final specifications package.
Prepare and publish specifications and technical drawings in design/development system.
Maintains integrity of data within design/development system utilizing established processes.
Ensure corporate timelines are met.
2. Works in conjunction with leaders to develop technical standards for assigned apparel lines.
3. Request prototypes and fit samples based on design.
Evaluate and track samples through commercialization process.
Maintain tracking documents and analyze tracking documents.
4. Takes lead role in planning and preparing samples for fit sessions; participates in fit sessions.
Prioritize sessions based on corporate timelines.
Measure and evaluate samples for fit and construction.
Takes digital photos, downloads & formats into Excel spreadsheet.
Communicates pattern, construction, and fit changes as instructed.
5. Review catalog copy mechanicals to ensure sizing and description accuracy.
Make fit recommendations for catalog copy.
Health and Safety Requirement: Ensures compliance with the L.L.Bean comprehensive Health and Safety program by knowing and following all
safety guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations. Takes immediate and appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions.
Knowledge of apparel or accessory garment construction, terminology and fit
Knowledge of pattern making/draping and grading
Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
Excellent Computer Skills including Word, Excel. PDM/PDS CAD a plus
Strong analytical skills
Solid technical drawing skills
Good understanding of the L.L.Bean customer
Good attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast paced production environment
Ability to lift/carry 20lbs. on a regular basis
Associates Degree required
- 3-5 years of relevant experience required
