Mechanical Engineer

Primary Function Generate engineering solutions supporting product requirements Develop and execute test protocols Component/material selection, process determination Support generation of DHF, including documentation, risk analysis, etc.
Participate in client and vendor meetings Support design control standards in QMS Principal Responsibilities Design and draw CAD models for parts and assemblies Design and document mechanical solutions Design and/or oversee detail drawings Build and maintain electronic part/assembly library Interact with other disciplines and departments Material and process selection Provide tolerance design and stack-up analysis Education Requirements Technical Degree or Certificate Program in a related field and minimum 5 years relevant experience, or BS in a related field and minimum 3 years relevant experience.
SkillsRequired:
Skilled in the use of solid modeling CAD tools ideally SolidWorks.
High level modeling skills to quickly formalize geometries in CAD.
Familiarity with design dimensioning and tolerancing methods and conventions (e.
g.
true-position dimensioning, geometric tolerancing, etc.
), ANSI and / or ISO drawing standards.
Understanding of mechanical fit tolerances, tolerance stack-ups, and an ability to perform worst-case and statistical tolerance analyses on mechanical assemblies.
Direct experience with a broad range of component fabrication and metrology methods Familiar with the material and machining properties of conventional materials:
steel, aluminum, plastic, glass, adhesives and potting compounds Desired:
CAD documentation of Electrical Components and PCBAs Familiarity with mechanical part inspection methods and sampling schemes Skilled in mechanical metrology and test tools including CMM's, ESS chambers, etc.
Knowledge of advanced materials:
alloys, composites, ceramics, thermoplastics, epoxies, etc.
Knowledge of material treatments and coatings:
Plating, painting, etching, etc.
Knowledge of advanced manufacturing methods:
Additive manufacturing, EDM, rapid prototyping, casting and molding, laser cutting, laser welding, injection molding, soldering, etc.
Documentation SkillsRequired:
Understanding of Configuration Management and Document Control Systems, e.
